6:38 "Bird shot not lethal even at point blank range"...really, smh.
MrSniperdude01
A couple things... The overall underrated "ehh" attitude of 9mm is really way off. 9mm comes in huge variety with varying levels of lethality. You're standard ball 9mm isn't that bad, but try taking HydroShock 9mm. Then there's civil defense AP 9mm rated at 2,000 f.p.s
Also who the hell are these people that are making the AR15 into some sorta elephant gun ? The AR-15 really lacks recoil for it's classification & while ammo can penetrate say an engine block, it's not gonna keep going beyond that.
R.Lee Ermy did a live fire comparison of 5.56 vs. 762x39; AR only pened 3 cinder blocks compared to the AK.
possumpopper89
A lever action rifle that shoots a magnum handgun cartridge such as a .357 or .44 magnum is a handy rifle that can quickly put up to a dozen rounds on target. Unlike the 9mm which might gain 50-100 feet per second, the .357 will gain 500-800 feet per second out of the carbine barrel. The .44 will have similar gains in velocity. Reloading them will take longer than a magazine fed rifle, but if you do your job the need for a fast reload isn’t a huge issue. I would place the lever action well above the PCC in any auto pistol cartridge.

No uzi in the carbine category

just google bird shot wounds on humans, it's lethal.
Shag Fullmetal
California sucks!!! They hate the second amendment right. We Can't have any of these firearms, best we can get is an air rifle or a non lethal bow and arrow. Can't wait to leave this state
Frostbite38
Just ordered a hi point 9mm carbine the other day as my first firearm. Heard good things about them plus I think they look mean. Super excited for it to come in!
John Fisher
Never barter with firearms or ammunition. If you have some to trade, you have more. They want them, theyll come for them.
Marcus Maddenov
Cousin female bought a S&W Shield EZ
Jon Schondel
10 months later, 9mm ammo is not plentiful 😂
Joe Doug
Everytime I shoot an AR, I'm blown away about the lack of recoil and the ability to make quick follow up shots.
Blake Davis
The amount of people in the comments that think James was being serious about birdshot is giving me brain damage
Ryan Santos
It’s now February and ammo is non existant

How about Mossberg 590 Shockwave I saw the woman handing you or the JTS AK-12 with 10 rd mags??

"birdshot isn't deadly at point blank range"!?!?!? You're an absolute moron! Would you like to stand at the business end of a shotgun and have someone put a round of birdshot into your chest to prove this statement??? go ahead, I'll wait for your response. That was a VERY irresponsible and wreckless statement.
Blake Davis
It’s called hyperbole

I think shotguns get way too bad a rep for personal defense. For someone who doesn’t have any training their best course of action isn’t to seek out an intruder, it would be to stay put and point at the door. A shotgun is literally the best option for that. Is there recoil, limited capacity, and is it long? Yes. But would an inexperienced person be able to, with ease, use a single buckshot round to take down an intruder coming through a doorway? Absolutely. That on top of the fact that it’s legal everywhere, and with a good autoloader that already eliminates a large part of the manual of arms.
Adam Nolen
I can’t believe you said her shots not lethal even at point-blank range should not miss lead like that
Honcho Allen
4 out of 5 stars for 9mm handgun? Handguns are one of the most difficult weapons to master, they take tremendous amounts of training and time to be skilled with them.
Rob Lewis
yea but for inside the home defense for a first time shooter they have their benefits. not only because theyre smaller and lighter, but you can buy a good one and accessorize the crap out of it. extended mags, custom grips, sights, flashlight, lasers, one of those quick rack thingys. Dump a ton of money into cause they're never going to shoot it and will never get the practice they need anyhow. so instead of pray and spray, just tech up with a laser and a flashlight, jump behind a couch, and when theyre within range just flash and shoot. thats as about as good a scenario as you could hope for
odin River
At least in Canada the sks is king
Blake Davis
@odin River that’s rough buddy
odin River
@Blake Davis he is trying but Canadians are doing our best to fight back

Didn’t Trudeau take away your guns ?

I like my m14 because i grew up using hunting rifles so it was much easier to adapt to using

You also have to decide what you are protecting yourself against in reality? Hunger? Debt? Manhood? Boredom? Bad reputation? Unemployment?

Took your advice and bought all of them 👍

Got a Walther P5 and a Mauser C96...am I doing it right??
Gabriel Reyes
Nope. Had to stop at 6:42 the moment this dude claimed that bird shot was not lethal. Even at point blank range. This guys obviously has ZERO idea what he's talking about. Even the softest shooting 7 1/2 birdshot will go through 3/4" - 1" wood and beyond at 15 feet while leaving a silver dollar sized hole in its wake and spreading while travelling. Given the fact that an average human skull is about 1/4" thick, a well placed shot to the head is instant death from 15' away using birdshot. The average human heart is only 2 1/4 to 2 1/12 inches inside the chest. A blast from a 12 gauge inside of 15' feet can and will be lethal if shot in the chest. Period. For home defense, I HIGHLY recommend a 12 gauge shotgun with birdshot. You won't over penetrate your walls and your loved ones will most likely be safe. Use a slug or even 00buck in your house and I promise you that it will easily travel floor to ceiling through at least 2 floors of a house and that is even after hitting your intended target. ~smdh~ 12g birdshot isn't lethal.....THIS dude. Just....wow. Intense dislike.
Gabriel Reyes
@Blake Davis If that were the case, it most certainly did not come across that way. However, if I am mistaken, then I will gladly concede to mistaken interpretation; it simply was not the way that I took it.
Blake Davis
Have you ever hear of hyperbole? Exaggeration ? He was being tongue in cheek , not literal
fairfighterm
"Birdshot is not lethal even at point blank range" - I assume, it's better to receive 10 9mm HP's than couple hundreds pellets in soft tissues, i.e. 10 easily seen wound channels vs hundreds of tiny holes. Surgeon's nightmare
Blake Davis
Yes 10 9mm hollow points are far better than birdshot because birdshot is for birds and 9mm hollow points are for people
haris khan
Nah just get 80mm flak
fred wright
Honest question, why would I worry about distance when looking for personal protection? That will be within 10 yards.
Ryan Sotelo
Kel Tec SU16 has treated me well. Might be worth it for the budget minded panic buyer.
doug bain
BUY A 20 gauge shotgun ammo is every where
Paul The pew pew guy
Glock gen 5 it is ambidextrous and get three 15 round mags with Glock 19 or a 17 with three 17 round mags
Sentionaut
“legal just about anywhere. i guess if you give a shit about that”
Adolf Wasrite
I come from the future: 9mm is basically gone never to be seen again. 5.56 is close behind. both missing, turns out literally any other caliber was the right choice.
Chris Henson
@ 22:42 - Pretty sure Uncle Paul Harrell proved that to be wrong.
PistolGrip44
If you did not already own a gun, don't even bother. You will never find ammo for it, so all you will have is a paperweight. You could always throw rocks.
Blake Davis
That kind of defeatist attitude helps no one , you can still find a gun and a box if you’re willing to look and if all you have is enough for the boogie man than that’s good enough
Walter Abernathy
Got my ex a Remington nilon 66 after her neighbor was strangled. It is short tube feed simi auto 22, that can be dropped into a mud puddle than ran over with a truck. Wash it off in a creak and it will work. One guy hit over 1000 two inch block in the air with several of them. In about a half-hour she could pick it up, put the front sight on what she wanted to shoot and pull the trigger three times. In 2.5 seconds. The target was a 6 inch circle at 7 yards, that is as far as anything in her house or to the road. 6 inch is about the size of a head. Three 22 in someone's face will stop the fíght. The guy next to us had a Glock, he was shooting it gangster style sideways and missing the target which was about the size of sheet of newspaper. When unloading it, empty the tube, then work the bolt TWO times. There is a catch that holds a round to be chambered next time. Shot a hole in the roof learning that.
Blake Davis
You know they don’t make those anymore, you should treat it more carefully
captain edwardo
Shotty for the woods AR for the hoods
Dillen Eldridge
Yeah birdshot is not effective at close range I've never seen anything survive a 3.5 inch magnum Turkey load
Blake Davis
Most shotguns won’t even except 3.5 shells and he’s not being literal I’m sure you could kill someone with birdshot but it’s not gonna be easy, learn what exaggeration is
Mike Spangler
20 gauge is a good choice if you need a shotgun that kicks less.
Kendall thompson
185lbs? Those are rookie numbers, you gotta bump those numbers up
Matthew Reams
Realised i had money left in TSP nd used it to buy my first AR15. Pretty quality stuff

So like an idiot when I first shot a 12 gauge, I thought I was hot stuff and decided that I would try double-aught buck and found out quickly that that has kick 😂
Fonz_408
Ok, bird shot dont kill at point blank... who are you... go shoot a gel block at point blank with no 7 1/2 shot aka bird shot. Then tell me it won't work at point blank
Blake Davis
This is the internet why did you take that so seriously
Richard Kuehner
You like the AR platform, curious if you have tried a Bullpup platform like a Tevor X95 for home defense and what you think of those type of weapons including shotgun veresions.
Mark Sullivan
I got my mossberg 590 a1 for 400 bucks. Cheaper elsewhere but I did manage to afford one.

Which AR-15 are you talking about that’s under $500 and how much is the Thunder Ranch and where do I buy it?
Davidle141
I went searching for answers. I got answers so the gun featured in the video which we all needed it clearly defined especially for us newbies. You want us to go out and get an AR-15 but what do we say? Gun shop man AR-15 like I saw on AMtost? The answer is it’s an “Aero Precision” urban rifle....that’s what I needed.....I called places and they directed me to Aero Precision......and they said it’s about $800 or $900. I then called a gun shop...Yo Homie! Hook it up with an Aero Precision! He said....why don’t you look at Black Rain? I said what are you talking about? What’s Black Rain? Oh my god.....Black Rain! They look so cool! Moving on....if you go to the Aero Precision page you can win an AR-15 for Free! That’s right for free! They give one away every month for Free...so there you go everyone has answers. I really did appreciate the video though because I was one of those guys....At-15! Are you insane! That’s crazy talk! At-15....now I am like heck yeah! AR-15! So thank you for that

>birdshot is not lethal even at point blank range
Is this the new version of the ".22 bounces off bones" bullshit? Take some 12g no. 4 to the chest from accross the living room. $50 says you die.
Excalibur01
Yeah, never use birdshot.
Brett Peterson
Desk pop!!! So happy to hear that reference
Old Cop
I tend to recommend a 4” K Frame .38/.357 revolver to newbies who are going to shoot the gun once, then put it in a sock drawer forever. Nine MM pistols are cheaper & easier to shoot but are more prone to ND unless the gun owner is handling/shooting it regularly.
RockyMountain Vibes
what do you mean you never grew up with an smg
Ben Workman
What about now that Biden is in and Beto is "Hell yes, we're gonna take your AR15's and AK47's" ? wACH GONNA DO WHEN THEY COME FOR US...BAD BOYS?
Joey Remo
Now I never watch another one of this guys videos. Did he say bird shot is not lethal at point blank range??
ShotGuunWolf
Can’t lie, glad I don’t see Alex as much tbh.
Otto Maguire
I like Glock to come out with a Bullpup
Brian Leabo
Guns better then stocks . I tried to help a newbie not buy a ,22 lr hand for home defense. My home shootgun I run 00 buck. I prefer an AK or the Ar in 5.7

Sorry bro but this is not going to blow over, the left wins, cancel your channel, cancel all freedom's, its over, At least with President Trump, we get 4 more years of freedom until the left comes for us. You would not be going to thunder ranch for fun
Ronald Smith
Your description of your mom, Connie...is very similar to how I would describe my mom, Connie😂
Dijon Thomas
I personally prefer rock salt in a shotgun for self defense ie home defense of a person walks off rock salt to the chest they’ve earned what ever goods their after
