Love the podcast! Mike Glover is a true badass and a great American, as are you. Loving the content from you, Mike Ritland, Cleared Hot, Garandthumb, and all of the SF youtube community. BTW, I'm a critical care nurse and I'm in school to be a psychiatric nurse practitioner with serious thoughts of working with the VA so I can do my part to help with veterans. Maybe one day we could collaborate - that would be a dream come true. Keep doing what you do.

First time viewer here. The fluff up front had me wondering if this was gonna be a decent interview, but once past that the time flew. Didn’t realize the vid was half as long as it is. Really respect you guys and your dedication, and enjoyed hearing your stories and admire your courage and determination, however why do you want to help destabilise these countries for corrupt politicians psychopathic agendas where America has no business being to satisfy your lust for “killing bad guys” and shoot for your moment of glory, this all came a bit self absorbed to me. I mean I’m sure could easily be two Libyan guys or two Iraqi guys talking about how they grew up poor and lost their father to the ugly world politics and miserable conditions and that they were willing to kill the American “bad guys” to try and save their country. I don’t like to blame the soldier for the ugly agendas, but you actively chose to seek a foreign place to find meaning. I got family on both sides of world war, and they are honourable and decent men, but they didn’t boast about killing the “bad guys”. Poor taste. Sorry.

Understand who you work for. That means, understand what systems of law are at play, what they mean, and what jurisdiction you will fall into (admiralty). Only one body of law works for the benefit of the people, and it's not the commercial admiralty form that you're beholden to in the military. Know your enemy, because he's surely always in disguise as your friend or savior. Don't unwittingly become their attack dogs or cannon fodder. Besides, tactical training means nothing when you don't understand the REAL battle grounds. The "broldier" cliques WILL lead you astray.

They want our money. Sad. I miss the Army, though. 11 years, two branches, one deployment (Asadabad). Got injured and had to get out. I miss the 101st. AIR ASSAULT!!!

I've watched a couple of your other videos. I've loved the conversation and content so much I sent a sub your way, brother. Now I'm watching it all from the beginning

I've watched this twice, now, months apart. I think I have an insight. These operators live and work at a pace and intensity in their military careers that is analogous to a cocaine habit. The abrupt transition to the (generally) laid-back pace and (generally) inconsequential stakes of civilian life are like a cold-turkey do-it-yourself detox. They may well be experiencing withdrawal from the pace/intensity, but I bet every counselor and advisor is trying to teach them self-care that is peaceful and slow. How about just a 6 month "half-way" transition, where the operator experiences decreasing frequency and intensity of activities?

Thanks to the both of you for all of the sacrifices and service that you continue to put forth. Really amazes me to see two dudes that have achieved what you have and still have the drive to stay on the grind and truly help others. I wish you both much success and happiness. God Bless. Min 46:50 I remember the day Lt.Col.E.R. gave us the Bush-hog motto and the day we killed the guy with the prosthetic leg in 2002 Afghanistan. Actually it was a B/2/20th Group company attached who shot him. We had the leg on the wall next to the projector screen the rest of that deployment.

Every time I watch one of Shawn's interviews, I wish I had enlisted instead of going to college. My Grandfather and Father both served in the Army and I feel like missed my calling.

I want to fight in a war. I tried enlisting in the US Army to become a Green Beret, however I have asthma. Is there anyway someone like me a can be deployed in armed combat? I’m looking at FBI SWAT and HRT but those are 6-7 year processes to simply apply for selection. I’m young now and want to fight. I don’t wanna wait another decade just for the fire to leave me.
