In this knife build video we are heat treating the 10K subscriber giveaway knife. We will likely hit that 10K mark before the blade is done but if you follow this series you will have a chance to win it. This will be a handmade version of my very popular pattern the HOG 4.5. This pattern of mine is currently in production by TOPS Knives but I also make a full custom versions. It seemed to me that this is the perfect blade to give away for this AMtost milestone. I am doing this build as more of a Vlog than a tutorial so comment below if you like the format. Perhaps we can work future Vlogs into the rotation.     What quench oil are you using

      I use peanut oil. I started using it a few years back when I couldn't find and chevron or parks (not sure why the shortage) since I worked out my formula I didn't see any reason to switch back. Especially since over half my blades are plate quenced now.

    You say the Mark is a little high that's what makes it yours the imperfections if they're not bad as in a crack or whatever then that's been the perfect I love handmade stuff and that's what shows its handmade

      Yea, there is nothing wrong with it being high, I just like the look a tad lower. Truth is they all vary slightly in their placement. The quest for perfection is never ending.

    Heck yeah! I had to check out the web sight to get a closer look. That modified HOG is a perfect size. 4.5x 1 1/16 x 3/16 And those ergonomics handles... just awesome attention to detail. Nice work to both you and Angel.

    Nice. I want to learn more about knife making, mainly the heat treat and tempering part. I have a few knifes in the works but no way to heat treat or temper yet. :)
